Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park, located in northern Tanzania, is a stunning yet often overlooked destination, offering a diverse landscape and a variety of wildlife. Covering approximately 137 sq km, it is uniquely nestled between Mount Meru and the Ngurdoto Crater, offering incredible views of the mountain and the surrounding plains. The park is known for its lush forests, alpine meadows, and crater lakes, making it a picturesque and peaceful getaway for those seeking a more intimate safari experience.
Arusha National Park is rich in wildlife, home to giraffes, buffalo, zebras, flamingos, and a variety of monkeys, including the blue monkey and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Visitors may also spot leopards and lions, though the park’s small size makes it more famous for its birdwatching opportunities, with over 400 bird species recorded. One of the park’s standout features is Momella Lake, known for its pink flamingo populations and other waterfowl. The Ngurdoto Crater, often referred to as a “mini Ngorongoro,” is another highlight with its rich wildlife and lush vegetation.
