Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park, nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley in northern Tanzania, is a breathtaking destination known for its diverse ecosystems and scenic beauty. Despite its small size, the park features a variety of landscapes, including lush groundwater forests, open savannah, and the vast alkaline Lake Manyara, which attracts thousands of flamingos and over 400 bird species. The park’s dramatic Rift Valley escarpment provides a stunning backdrop, making it one of the most picturesque safari locations in Tanzania.
One of the park’s most famous highlights is its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior seen in only a few places in Africa. The park is also home to large elephant herds, hippos, buffalo, giraffes, and troops of olive baboons, one of the biggest in Africa. Unique experiences such as night game drives, walking safaris, and canoeing (seasonal) offer visitors an exclusive way to explore the park’s rich biodiversity. The Maji Moto hot springs and the underground water forest add to the park’s geological wonders.
